Membership Update and FAQs

First and foremost, I want to start out by saying THANK YOU! The amount of positive feedback and gratitude that you all have showered over the pool board has been greatly appreciated!! We want to get the pool open this year and we really are trying to make this whole situation as easy and as fair as possible, while still being safe and following the County requirements put in place.

We currently have 72 memberships

There are 3 days left to get your early registrations in!!

This is a reminder that we will need 120 memberships by end of day Friday 5/29.

Some FAQs from the past week:

How many memberships did we have last year?

163 memberships.

How will you ensure that all paid members get a chance to use the pool?

For Phase One: We have an online sign-up system. We are planning to have 6-7 time slots that are 90 mins long with 15-30 minutes for cleaning/disinfecting in between. Each time slot will allow 33 people to sign up. We will be asking people only sign-up for one time slot per day. We will likely need to monitor the sign-up and address things on a case-by-case basis in the event that people are monopolizing. This is still a work in progress.

What happens when people sign-up and have a change of plans? Will walk-ins be allowed?

Yes, walk-ins will be allowed if capacity requirements can accommodate them. If not, the Pool Monitor can work with them to find a different time slot and get them signed up. However, we still need to determine if there is more needed around a process for this.

How will you ensure that people are checking in with the monitors?

This is the responsibility of the member. However, for the time being, gates will remained locked and bathroom doors will be propped open during open hours. We will be setting up some barricades to guide members from the bathrooms to the monitor station.

Will there be sanitizing stations available?

Yes.

Can we still order food? Bring food in? Bring beverages in?

Yes. Feel free to order/bring your own food, snacks and beverages into the pool (NO GLASS), and then please clean up after yourselves. Just like our parks and forests, leave a place better than you found it!

How are the other Tierney pools handling this?

Westbridge Pool and Southbridge Pool are both handling it very similarly to Kilkenny Pool.

Can I join the pool board?

When the original Pool Board was assembled for the 2018 season, we each committed 2 years of service to ensure stability as we were getting the business stood up. Since that time, we have had a couple unexpected transitions due to moves out of the neighborhood and time constraints. However, at this year's kick-off meeting, we were supposed to open it up for new volunteers.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 happened and we were unable to have our annual Spring Kick-off Meeting. Additionally, changing of board members does require legal documentation changes which takes time and since the original COVID-19 stay-home order came with criminal charges for violators, the Pool Board all committed to another year.

So, the 2020 Pool Board is currently set even though it is technically year 3 for a lot of us. Following this season, we will discuss who intends to return and who doesn't. At that time, we will reach out to the entire neighborhood for new volunteers. So, if you are interested - Please let us know what you available time commitment looks like and what you would like to do.

As more questions come in, or more details are available - I will continue to update you all.

Right now, we are focused on getting the memberships we need in order to open.

Once we can confirm that we are opening, we will work out the remaining details.
