2020 Season and COVID-19

Well, this is certainly a new one…

I hope that all of you are enjoying this time with your families and staying safe and healthy!

Here on the pool board, we know that many of you are concerned about recent developments regarding COVID-19 and how it may affect our 2020 season, the early bird discount, membership payments, etc.

Please know that we are closely monitoring the situation.

At this time, we know that this social distancing order is in place until at least April 24, 2020. We do not expect that the order will end early. In fact, we are currently having discussions in preparation for all of this to extend into May 2020.

This means that our Spring Kick-off Meeting will also be delayed into May 2020. The $50 early bird discount is typically scheduled to expire on the same day as the kick-off meeting, so we do plan to extend the date on that to align.

If the social distancing order should extend closer to Memorial Day, we will have to evaluate a new opening date, the cost of membership, etc. However, we will not be making any adjustments or changes until there is a bit more certainty.

One of the largest problems we face is the Seasonal Opening Procedures. In order to open the pool there is a lot of cleaning, organizing, hiring, training and stocking that needs done. Additionally, we need plumbing services, Midwest Pools, and Badger Swim Pools to come out and prepare the pools for opening. Considering we typically get started on all of that in the beginning of April, our timeline is shrinking by the day.

We will do what we can to make up the time, but some of it is a waiting game: Waiting for this to pass, waiting to ensure it’s safe, waiting for the necessary businesses to reopen and get back on their feet, etc. Furthermore, until we know more about the opening date for this season, we have removed the ability to enroll in memberships, purchase products, and book parties.

There are a lot of unknowns for now, but we will keep you posted as dates become more finite.
